Then came The Chelsea Flower Show, the pinnicale of the horticultural world and we have had the priviledge for the past 2 years to be involvedin a tiny way. We have been asked by our plant suppliers Shanks of Burwash who provide all the plants on the Capital Garden Products stand to create a an arrangement for the massive urns on the stand. They are then placed upon plinths which in the wind experienced at this years Chelsae was interesting.
It looks all the more spectacular by night so heres's a peek.

We have the chance of a quick whizz round whislt the finishing touches are happening and it's great to see the gardens in their splender, the Monaco garden was particularly stunning in the evening sun. The planting generally was a feast for the eyes with purples, plums and silver foliages in abundance. I took a snap of the Tendercare stand in the pavillion who were in collaboration with none other than Shane Connolly!

May Maddness!

In more ways than one - I have just lost my most recent posting by the click of a button - maddening. But the real reason for the title is that we as predicted have been very busy but this is now the edited edition.

Starting with The Decorative Living Fair at Eridge on 19th May. Its' such a lovely setting and crammed with peolpe wanting to buy,we just didn't have enough sweet pea baskets. Not only did we ahve a stand but also provided flowers around the venue and in the catering marquee. There are some great scene setting photos on The Decorative Living face book page but here are a couple of mine.

All in a weekends work!

Saturday turned out to be rather busy. You can never tell what a Bank Holiday weekend will bring especially when it coinsides with a right Royal do and the tale end of the Easter hols. We had a very good customer who had forgotten to order flowers for a family party - oops! We were able to sort that one out and then get on with preparing for the 2 day wedding fair which is a bit of a tall order over a Bank Holiday but it was well worth the effort with quite a few prospective brides. Despite the Royal cream, whites and greens, which I am sure will be an even greater hit than usual, sunflowers ruled the day. As usual though we had a good mix on offer.

'The Wedding'

I doubt there is a blog in the land, or at least a florist blog, that does not mention the Royal Wedding. Wasn't it just wonderful? The dress, the fashion, the people, the weather and of course the flowers. So natural and understated but with such personal meaning and am I thankful it wasn't a massive shower that brides to be might want to replicate!

We had alittle fun in our shop window with a union jack made of flowers and a guess at the bouquet, well we got it right with lily of the valley but we put ours with white tulips and the scent was heavenly.

Forthcoming Events

As we are entering another busy time I thought I'd take this opportunity to mention the Wedding Fair we are at this coming weekend. It's over 2 days, which is unusual, at Crockstead Farm Hotel near Lewes. We will then be at The Decorative Living Fair on 19th May at Eridge Park. This a long the lines of The Country Living Fair but on the boarders of Kent and East Sussex. It's a nice day out with lovely exhibitors with all sorts of goodies for the home and garden.
Between those 2 dates Iwill be attending the New Covent Garden wedding event which should prove inspiring. So forgive me if postings are few and far between but I will bring you some memories of each event.

What a wonderful weekend!

It's not often we get such a beautiful Bank Holiday weekend yet alone in April and during the school holidays! However this Easter came up trumps.It was so nice to have some days off and do things in the house and garden and generally have a bit more of a relaxing time.

The good weather has meant the garden has come on as have the seedlings which are in need of potting on or planting, some of which did get done.

The honeysuckle is in full bloom and smelling devine.

The white and purple boarder is coming along nicely too. There will be a hint of pink when the lupins come into full flower, followed by the hardy geraniums and then the sedum.

How time flies!

Well it's mid April and this is the first blog of the month and its not because I have nothing to write about or been on holiday - I wish! We have been very busy, not necessarily in the shop but with all manor of things.
Mother's Day was extremely hectic and there are no pictures to prove how busy we were as always tends to happen at such moments when the camera is posied it retorts with 'change battery pack!
I had better luck at a recent show home job and wedding fair.

Hopefully the next post will not take quite so long to appear. There will certainly be lots to talk about after the 29th but maybe we will have some speculation first.
