2012 Weddings

It has been interesting this year to see so many fairly 'last minute' brides. I have had a number of consultations recently with weddings at the end of this month, May, June and July. I like it and infact our own wedding was organised in three months, once we decided to take the plunge we booked it to coinside with a summer holiday we had already booked. It may be something to do with the economy, uncertainty in what could happen in 12, 18 months time. The main thing is people are still getting married and many making their weddings very personnel by doing some aspects themselves.

Below are couple of image from the most recent wedding we did:

Count down to Mother's Day

It's going to be a busy week as Mother's Day approaches, it's certainly our biggest event in the floristry calendar and preparation is the key. We will be getting oasis soaked, cellophane is already pre-cut and flowers and foliage are ordered! So if you still need that special bunch for your special mum, contact us, we will have beautiful spring posies, planted baskets, pretty tea cup arrangements plus cup cakes made especially for the day!

Spring Wedding Fair

Last Sundays rain did not appear to dampen prospective couples attending The Spa Wedding Fair. We meet with a number of couples and helped out two new exhibitors by supplying flowers to Alice and the Tea Cup who have a lovely selection of vintage crockery and props. Also Vintage Rose Cupcakes which I can verify make a good cake!

Purple still comes through strong as does the informal style as many brides are opting for marquee or barn reception venues. However the Spa still remains extremely popular being able to offer various option depending on the size of wedding party.

We opted for seasonal flowers other than the peonies I could not resist but they did work well with the 'antique' roses.

And I particularly liked this outfit which was featured on the 'peony' influenced Hoopers stand next to me:

Charities, Weddings and Funerals

We have been rather busy since Valentine's what with Hospice in the Wealds Torchlight Charity Ball at Hever Castle, pondering Mother's Day and preparing for another Wedding Fair. This one is at The Spa on Sunday 4th March so do pop along if you are looking for wedding flowers. There is also a wedding to do for Friday, mainly roses with lots of candles to create a warm, dinner party feel. I am sure we will have some pictures to post but for now a seasonal bunch.

We have also had 2 funerals for family members of good customers of ours, always sad.

Valentine's Day Tuesday 14th February

It doesn't have to be red and it doesn't have to be roses!

A nice spring bunch will do just the job although of course we will have the traditional red roses and many other floral delights. We will also have special Valentine cupcakes so if flowers aren't the way to the heart, may be a cupcake is! See the website for details or give us a call.

Wedding Fairs

It was a busy weekend with wedding fairs at 3 quite different venues, Blackstock Farm which has a rustic charm with the option of weddings inside and out, Dale Hill Golf Club and Hotel and Salomon's. We spoke with a number of brides and look forward to working with them to help make their big day. Below is a taster of what we had on offer:

Spring flowers and plants

I tweeted earlier in the week about the most amazing cut hellebors I had delivered, I had never seen such magnificient specimens. I put them with tuberose, white lily, Memory Lane rose, pussy willow and ginister and thought they looked rather lovely - I hope you do too:

And close up:

It seems to have been the week of the Hellebor as we had some plants in as well which looked equally lovely so much so that some have had to go home to be planted in the garden.

Talking of planting, dare I admit to only planted my tulips today, there I just did!Fingers crossed that it's not too late.

Seeds

I actually planted some Orlaya Grandiflora today. I have been mening to for ages, it's probably too early or late but I am giving it go now anyway. I will sow some more next month and then directly into the ground later in the year and see which does the best. It is such a pretty flower and great for summer weddings.
